Hello ,
Today it is my privilege to introduce OrbitaASSIST, a digitally reimagined voice-powered virtual health assistant proven to improve patient communication at the bedside.
- Patients use OrbitaASSIST to request help via a smart speaker — as an alternative or adjunct to the traditional nurse call button
- Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning operate on the backend to triage, prioritize, and intelligently route requests to appropriate care team members
- Patients hear a natural language response such “we’ve raised an alarm with the nurse" or "someone will bring you a pillow soon”
In its first 18 months of operation including use at the prestigious Sydney, Australia-based Prince of Wales Hospital, more than 8,000 patient requests were made.
- Among surveyed patients, 100% wanted to use the solution if hospitalized again
- 87% of nurses said it helped them feel more confident in responding to calls
- Critical care needs were identified earlier; response time to calls for help were reduced by as much as 70%; and facilities saw a reduction in falls and other hospital acquired complications
Also today, it is my honor to introduce Nick White as Orbita’s Executive Vice President of Patient Care Solutions.
During a 17-year career with Deloitte Consulting, Nick helped CXOs across Australia, the UK and SE Asia transform operations via technology. He most recently led Deloitte's Australia-based Smart HealthCare solution team — focusing on development of business strategy and core offerings as well as incubation of products and solutions to take to market. Nick's team is credited with creating and launching DeloitteASSIST, the winner of more than 25 awards including a 2019 Webby for Technical Achievement for Apps, Mobile and Voice and a 2019 Good Design Australia Award. Check out this video about the solution.
"By giving the patient a ‘voice’ through conversational AI, the specific information in a request can be processed, prioritized, and routed to the right care team member in the right place at the right time," Nick stated in today's press release.
We encourage you to:
OrbitaASSIST truly reflects digital transformation and represents a bright future for healthcare. By adding this solution to our portfolio and bringing Nick onto our team, we move the needle forward on Orbita's mission to transform people’s lives through the power of voice and conversational AI.
Best wishes,
Bill Rogers Orbita Co-Founder & CEO
