February 2019

Hello

February is here - and with it comes HIMSS!

  • Orbita will make several announcements at this major healthcare IT event in Orlando February 11th-14th. Watch for groundbreaking new features in the Orbita Voice™ platform - developed to further improve your experience of designing, building, managing and optimizing voice and chatbot applications for healthcare.
  • I'm presenting two sessions to share insights based on exciting work we're doing to help providers, payers, pharma and others in healthcare move forward on the voice journey. If you attend, please find me afterward and say hello.
  • Orbita will be at two locations on the exhibit floor - the Healthcare of the Future Pavilion (debuting at HIMSS this year,) and the Intelligent Health Pavilion. Please stop by to discuss your organization's needs around adding voice to your digital engagement strategy.
Learn more here - and use our calendar to schedule a meeting with us at HIMSS.

Last month saw Team Orbita at several events highligting the voice-first world of healthcare. Our CEO Bill Rogers and SVP of Strategy Kristi Ebong joined an army of thought leaders and industry executives at the annual J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference. While most of of their activity was “behind closed doors”, I can say that I’ve never seen Bill and Kristi so pumped about the future of voice and conversational AI in healthcare coming out of that conference.

IMG_6551-1The same week, I presented at the Consumer Electronics Shows (CES) Digital Health Summit in Vegas, participating on a panel about the role of voice assistants in home and elder cre. Thanks to my co-panelists Laurie Orlov and CDW’s Ginna Baik.

To cap off the month, Orbita joined 500 voice enthusiasts at the 2ndannual Alexa Conference in Chattanooga where we were very pleased to receive two awards - Best Third Party Tool and Best in Show (Bronze). We're even more pleased for our partner, the Mayo Clinic, who received Alexa Skill of the Year Award for Healthcare with their Mayo First Aid Alexa skill.

Earlier this month we announced a new voice prototyping module, Orbita Prototype. Check it out - and stay tuned for more important product and partnership announcements in the coming weeks. Our Orbita blog and Orbita news page are excellent resources for this information.

Thanks for reading. Here’s wishing you a happy and healthy 2019.

Sincerely,

Nathan Treloar

Learn How New Voice Prototyping Saves Time and Money
Not Just for Marketers, But for Voice Strategists, Product Owners, Developers and UX Designers,Too!

Thanks to Stephanie Miles who recently authored an article for marketers titled As Voice Gets Established, Brands Grapple with Implementation. Consider these insights from her article published in Streetfight:

  • "Consumer demand for voice technology has never been greater ... but behind the scenes, many brand marketers are struggling to connect the dots and design campaigns around a technology they don’t fully understand."
  • "Most of these brands are integrating existing voice technology into their own platforms, basically turning their 'dumb' devices into 'smart' ones. As voice matures, marketers will have to look beyond off-the-shelf tools and stationary devices, like Amazon’s Echo, and towards a voice-first future with the ability to scale."

  • “'Voice-based apps and skills need to provide real value or utility if they are going to provide sustainable ROI to the brand,' says Derek Browers of MomentFeed. 'They also need to be voice-first in their design and user experience, which is a very different kind of storytelling than what brands have grown accustomed to in screen-based apps. The brands that get this alchemy right should enjoy significant first-mover advantages.'"

How do marketers and their colleagues get started? Today we lack tools and collective experience to cost-effectively develop conversational applications at scale. Yet that's all changing, thanks our newest addition to the Orbita Voice™ platform.

Orbita Prototype enables rapid prototyping of conversational dialogues without requiring any coding - much like creating a wireframe for a web site or a sketch for a mobile app. With this powerful engine, teams can create dialogues quickly, iterate on projects in near real-time, rapidly make adjustments to conversational dialogues, test thee adjustments, and measure the impact of these changes. Precious time - and money -are saved.
